The Myco-Method Guide Certification is a professional self-improvement certificate aimed at facilitators who wish to take a more traditional approach to psilocybin experiences. Although being a guide is not a licensed profession in Oregon, we understand the valuable role guides play in many facilitated sessions. During Oregon sessions, the licensed facilitator is the safe, sober, "trip sitter", while the participant may also choose to be accompanied by someone who is also under the influence of psilocybin and capable of guiding the experience as directed by the mushroom. We believe that this role should not be excluded from therapeutic treatment sessions, which is why we created this Guide Certification. It allows an opportunity for guides to legally engage in this role, while also ensuring that those who do are doing so responsibly.
To qualify for the Guide Certification, candidates must have completed all requirements of the full Myco-Method Facilitator Training Program and meet additional criteria. These include having at least five years of personal experience working with psilocybin, demonstrating a strong personal relationship with the mushroom, and showing significant abilities to guide others while under the influence of psilocybin. The application process involves submitting a personal statement demonstrating the candidate's understanding of the role of a guide, their personal experience journeying with psilocybin, a description of their personal relationship with the psilocybin, and two letters of recommendation from individuals who have witnessed the candidate's abilities as a guide.
